The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea (RBKC) is a cultural hub for tourists and locals alike which is why Kensington + Chelsea Art Week is such a great celebration of the whole area and what it has to offer.
RBKC is home to a wealth of art and culture from the world famous Exhibition Road which houses the V&A, Natural History and Science Museums and the equally famous Portobello Road which is peppered with independent art galleries. There is plenty for everyone and lots of discoveries to make around the borough, not just the famous bits – think street art, installations, one off shows and pop ups.
This year it’s all change. The organisers have announced Artweek is going FRINGE and it has put “a call to bold, raw, and unfiltered programming by artists, makers, performers, creatives, and dreamers” to take part.
Basically, the event is now crowdsourcing participants and the floor is open to anyone with a venue, pop up, or work to show as long as you are in the borough and your event takes place during the week of 23–29 June.

Hashtags
The main hashtags to include on all your social posts are #KCAWFRINGE2025 #FRINGE #ArtWeekFringe #KCAW2025. Keep an eye out for any official announcement on what the official hashtags will be but using at least one of these means people will find your content others accounts will share your posts.
Hashtags are always important in content – even though some say they’re not as essential as they used to be. Do your research to get the right hashtags for your event and work. For example, here is a list of the top hashtags on Instagram which are associated with art – maybe some of these would work for you?
#art #festival #contemporaryart #artwork #artgallery #artshow #musicfestival #painting #artfair #artexhibition #artistsoninstagram
Remember – hashtags are universal but they work differently across different platforms for example #ArtTok is principally in the domain of TikTok.
Reciprocals
A reciprocal is when organisations have a working group which boost each others marketing efforts by sharing content and messages around any given post or announcement. It’s free and a great way to build community. Lots of arts organisations do reciprocals for events and tours and it works really well on social – you can formalise it by creating your own list of contacts and alerting them every time you post or add new articles to your website or put tickets on sale. You will need to return the favour to everyone on your reciprocals group.
You can just as easily do this informally on social media. Don’t forget to tag all the other FRINGE participants in your social posts – it’s a great way to get maximum bang for buck, get your content shared and make new friends online and hopefully in real life too.
Enjoy the FRINGE – see you there at some point!
